It was time to say goodbye to Cairo today and head for Sharm el Sheikh and 18 nights of relaxing in a resort, after basically, five months of mostly camping in Africa.
Tim and I both wore our Hawaiian shirts and I wore Jazz had and Tim wore the hat I got him in Ethiopia. We had a bit of lunch at the airport and then boarded the plane. Fiona took a picture of me and Tim, finally on a plane together and not just Tim seeing me off at the airport. The picture, if there was any doubt as to why Tim is my best mate, would instantly erase it. We look like very colourful nutcases.
The flight took about an hour and was felt really short. I met my transfer and Tim and Fiona had to get a cab, because he wanted to charge them 20 English pounds each. We got to Amar Sina and checked in and were all very impressed with our rooms.
We spent most of our afternoon relaxing by the pool, before going to Na'ama Bay for dinner. I had intended for us to go to the Hard Rock, but it was packed with a queue out the door, so we ended up at TGI Friday's, which was awesome. I finally ate normal western food after five months of basically local food and eating food off the truck. I had deep fried mushrooms, and fried mozzarella, loaded potato skins with cheese and Tennessee chicken. There was so much to choose from on the menu, I thought we were all going to have food rage. Afterwards, we all wanted to slip into a food coma. Tim ordered an Ultimate Long Island Ice tea which came in a fish bowl glass. Awesomness.
We spent the rest of the night wandering around doing "Happy Hour Research", which entailed, recording which pubs had a happy hour and when, so we could make a plan of attack for next time. We headed back to the hotel after a bit of a scrap with the taxi drivers and went off to bed.
