This morning we had an early start and went off to Edfu temple. We took a horse and carriage ride to the temple which was really nice. I absolutely couldn't stand with the group and the guide, as this particular guide has a very monotone voice and stands outside the temple lecturing us, with us watching hordes of people entering the temple and wasting our early morning start, which is necessary to avoid the crowds.
I wandered off and had a look at the temple, which I had only visited once before. I decided to go for a walk up the passageway leading to the top of the temple. I was ok going up this time, but on the way down there was a section that wasn't lit and I promptly fell down the stairs and really hurt my ankle. I don't know what I did, but I definitely felt a distinct snapping sensation.
I sat in the corridor in agony for a bit, waiting for the pain to wear off and then limped out to find the group. I found Mum and Dad and told them what happened. The guide was now in a very small crowded room of the temple, trying to lecture us and Mum got claustrophobic, so we went out to the bazaar and the waiting area. While we were waiting I bought a new bag, as the one I bought in Arba Minch is now on its last legs.
We got back on the ship and started cruising to Kom Ombo, I spent some more time by the pool, trying to rest my ankle and had some lunch.
We reached Kom Ombo at about 2pm and it was unbelievably hot. It was so different during this time of day. The last time we were there, it was dusk and it was lit by little flaming torches and had a wonderful feel to it. The Nubian contingent in the bazaar, had also been replaced by Egyptians and the hassle factor was now just as bad as Edfu. It used to be a lovely bazaar, where you could chat to the people in the shops and explore without fear of being accosted. It was yet another sad reminder that nothing is ever as good the second time round.
Our ship, was finally the first on the mooring line, so I finally managed to get a photo of it. We got back on and started cruising to Aswan, which we reached at about 7pm.
