Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
Today was our first hot day in about 2 months. It hit 30⁰C but was also quite windy. This was slightly annoying blowing the sand around but did also bring some coolness. Before it got too hot we climbed Frenchman Peak. It is 262m to the summit, has great views to the ocean and has a really nice cave/arch close to the peak which is a huge space. It was rock surface the whole way and was really steep in places. The part that helped was amongst the steepness was flat divots that made it easier to climb. We reached the top cave in about 30 minutes and it took about 20 minutes to get back down. It wasn't as hard as expected to come down the steep slope as the surface had a lot of grip. This is amongst my favourite walks we have done.
We had a look at Whistling Rock (which wasn’t whistling) and Thistle Cove but decided Hellfire Bay was a better place as it was more accessible.
We had lunch and only a short time on the beach as there were so many flies! So we packed up and went to Lucky Bay as yesterday there were no flies here. Sadly today there were quite a few annoying flies but we still had a great time. Zach and I went in the water and it wasn’t quite as cold as expected once we were in. It was actually refreshing and enjoyable on such a hot day.
