Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
After a short drive we were due to arrive at our next camp before 11am which we never get to camp until the afternoon. It was not going to be the case today. After a creek crossing Matt thought the caravan looked like it as crabbing and didn't feel right. So after inspection he comes back with the news the trailer has snapped the top leaf spring. We are usually always leading with Kenan behind but only a few kilometres back we stopped to drop off rubbish so Kenan took the lead and ended up being out of range via UHF. Matt called upon his bush mechanic knowledge again and with a block of wood, gaffer tape and a couple of straps we were able to continue slowly into camp.
By now Kenan had come back looking for us so he followed and kept an eye on it from the rear.
In the afternoon we walked down to Bell Gorge. A nice spot to swim above the falls. Liam had me literally walking in circles with him, Zach conned Aunty Clare into going on an adventure and Kenan and Matt explored the waterfall below. The water was probably the warmest so far with so much being shallow above the falls and getting the sunlight. The downside was all the rocks were slippery. Walking on the rocks broke off everything growing on it and the algae bits floated through the water which is one reason I enjoyed Manning Gorge more.
The Silent Grove Campground was spacious with picnic tables, flush toilets and hot showers. Although there was no pressure with everyone else using it at the same time so it was more of a dribble. There were quite a few flies here though which was annoying.
Bell Gorge was on par with Manning Gorge. They both were really beautiful and had different things going for them. I liked Manning Gorge better only due to the kids being more manageable there which in turn makes it more enjoyable for Matt and I.
At night we had some great stars showing with the moon rising late.
