Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
It's Liam's birthday today! We set the alarm after advice from fellow travellers to get to Zebedee Springs just before the gate opens at 7. We drove in just after the ranger opened the gate and there were 2 cars ahead of us. We managed to start the walk first and got to the top pool. The water was crystal clear, shallow enough for Zach to stand and warm. We stayed in the water for over an hour until it started to feel colder and went back to camp.
We then celebrated Liam's 2nd birthday with presents which he got Mickey Mouse sound books, cars and a dog. He especially loved all the cars and the dog even got a kiss. By the end of the day Liam started correctly naming the dog's tail instead of calling it its doodle.
At the moment Liam refers to water as "fla" and now when he says 'waterfall' it comes out sounding liked 'falafel'. He is also shortening popcorn to "porn"! so it's a bit embarrassing when other people are around.
We had ice cream cake which Liam licked the plate clean and then I put it in the sink and he insisted on licking it again so he obviously enjoyed it.
It was too hot to do any walks plus they were all quite long, so we went for a drive to Explosion Gorge. It involved some slow going over a rocky river crossing before our first stop at Branko's Lookout. It is a great lookout and worth the drive. We then continue to Explosion Gorge which we viewed from the top. It was also very nice but would involve some effort to make tracks down into the gorge. We also dropped by Chamberlain Gorge.
Back at camp they have a great swimming spot with tubes to use so we all had a good time floating and hanging in the shade.
The afternoon was spent with the boys playing with some camp friends that we have travelled with along the way.We had marshmallows by the fire with camp friends and then the kids played and watched a movie with their friend Riley.
