It is hot in the desert!! Jim had a grin from ear to ear the whole time we were driving down this big long road with only desert on either side.
We decided to not plan our campsite ahead and just wing it. Were quickly reminded how badly wrong this plan always went for us in Europe. All the RV parks we saw in Yucca Valley just looked grim so we decided to try the next towns. That didn't work so we had a look to see what came up on Sat Nav and ended up going down "not maintained roads" as the sign said, this was a nightmare so turned back and drove around a bit. We even tried stalking some other RV's to no avail. Eventually as it was getting late we just stumbled across a really nice RV park off the beaten track.
Spent the next day in Joshua Tree National Park. It was very cool and very hot. Completely unlike anything we had ever seen. Did the walk around Hidden Valley where all the cattle rustlers used to hideout. Much to Jim's disappointment we didn't see any rattle snakes but we saw a few lizards. Stopped off a lot along the way and went up to Keys View where you can see the San Andreas Fault.
