ok so lets start with the flights. As i went through customes i had the same gittery nervous feeling you get as you walk into a doctors or dentists surgery, just as someone is about to examine you! I guess although noone specifically is examining me, im sure that this trip will examine and test my character in so many ways, as i have already felt in the short time so far! As i said in the email, the first flight was long and i was sat next to an elderly couple whos different language made conversation limited.
The next flight although different wasnt much better for conversation and it turned out i had a row of seats to myself, which was nice to spread out a little, again no luck with sleeping so i took it as an opportunity to read my lonely planet book a little, giving myself an idea of where's best to do bungee jumping, skydiving and white water rafting! :) not much more exciting to write home about on the flight... until sunrise! looking across the plane i noticed a stunning sunrise, at the bottom the seemingly endless blue abiss of sky and sea i guess miles below, the blue turning lighter into a pale bluey purple, which turned into subtle pink right teh way through every single shade up until red and yellow at the top, before baby blue sky at the top, it was honestly breath-taking and i was gutted that i had no such view from my side!
Although my luck changed, i had slightly different bottom by this point, i could see the join of the sea and land, through a slight bluish glow below, however above that very similar view of colours changing... tough contest but id say the view of seeing the beaches beat just the deep blue they had! It proceeded further inland, seeing the big hills and i guess could be described mountains of north australia with clouds literally hugging them to the extend at 1 point i was questioning myself as to weather or not they were snow-topped, of course with temperatures of 26 deg by 8am there was no chance it was snow! To top things off the final bit of sea into my decent to Cairns i saw lots of splashes in the sea, for to big from the hight to be from swimmers and too far out, so my guess was a big schole of dolphines, whales or sharks... pretty kl ey!
