25th June 2010
Packed up camp and jumped on a tour bus for a 3 hour tour around Lightning Ridge. It's quite an interesting town with lots of quirky people and things to look at.The tour gave info on opal mining in the area as well as general info about the town.We went down an old opal mine, had a look at a few of the unique buildings in town and then went to an opal shop to see an opal cutting and polishing demonstration. After the tour we had a quick look in an art gallery before having lunch and hitting the road to St George.
Arrived in St George at about 4pm so fuelled up the car and popped in to Doug and Kerry King before driving out to Wycombe to spend a week with the Stewart family.

We spent 6 wonderful days at Wycombe relaxing, spending time with the Stewarts and helping with the farm work.Matt had a great time helping with the cattle mustering, branding and yard work.We also had a great time playing with the kids, riding motorbikes, shooting and eating yabbies. We also had our coldest night so far with the temp getting down to -3.5!Man it was cold and there was a big frost the next morning. We had a great time staying at Wycombe and were spoilt rotten by Therese and her cooking.Wycombe feels so much like home to us and we are already looking forward to our next visit. Thanks to all of the Stewart clan for your wonderful hospitality!
