18th -19th September 2009

After a day in Blackall we started our trip to Rockhampton to visit my mum and my sister Nicole and her family. We decided to make a stop at one of the towns in the gem fields as neither Matt nor myself had been there before. We stopped at Rubyvale and spent the night at the caravan park. Rubyvale is a typical opal mining town with little shacks perched all around the town everywhere.

The next morning we did a tour of one of the local opal mines before hitting the road to Rocky.
