With the clocks forward it doesn't get light until gone 08:00 and there's no point getting up in the dark so we enjoy a long lie in. Despite charging 8€ for the night, the service point wants 2€ for water which we don't bother with.
We drive out along the spit to the headland fort, part of which is still a military establishment.
The rain eases as we drive south on the Manche peninsula, with not much traffic. At Vire we come across a 'Gilet Jeaune' protest. The French are cross about recent rises in fuel duty and have taken to blockading roads while wearing the yellow vests motorits must carry in their cars. Last weekend's protests included some violence and caused two deaths, but the one on the roundabout in Vire is being monitored by police and the campaigners are asking motorists to sign a petition. We add our names as we've spent thousands of euro on French diesel so have a [yellow] vested interest in keeping prices lower.
Our journey continues without further incident until we arrive at the aire in Sourdeval where we plan to stop to get water. It's not a bad little spot and as well as free water there is free electricity so we have lunch and decided to stay here and relax for the afternoon as the last week has been very busy and tiring.
