We decided that we really ought to see the beaches while we're in Sydney, even if the weather hasn't been great! The forecast was good for today so we decided to go over to Manly which is popular with tourists and locals. We walked down to the harbour via the Botanical gardens. We like walking through there as we always seem to find a different route. Its well looked after which makes a change from the parks at home and you get to admire the colourful birds.
We arrived at the harbour and there were huge queues for all the ferry terminals! Fortunately they were moving fast and we managed to get tickets and get on the next ferry. The journey to Manly was lovely as you travelled down the harbour past the Opera house, the botanical gardens and all the lovely houses overlooking the water. It was very picturesque, possibly improved by the sun making an appearance! The ferry was packed and everyone seemed to head in the same direction, towards the main beach!! The beach was really busy too, you could barely see the sand for people! Everyone was perhaps thinking the same as us, that its going to be a nice day so make the most of the beach while we can!
We chilled by the beach for ages, people watching as usual! After some food we sat at a beach next to where the ferry docks. We had ice cream before boarding the ferry and heading back to circular quay! Again, it was a lovely ride back with lots of amazing views again!
We spent the evening at circular quay as we wanted to see the Opera house lit up. It was a nice way to spend the evening as it was quite warm and there were lots of people around. We watched a street entertainer who was doing different tricks, including somersaulting in the air, over a line of people! Crazy!! All the boats were lit up, as was the Opera house and we waited until the sun had set. We like walking around the area anyway, but at night it was even more magical!!
