First thing we went to the Australian museum! We thought it would be quiet considering it was a Sunday and just after xmas, but we were wrong!! The queue was out of the door and everyone seemed to have children with them! That didn't deter us though and we made it in after a short while. We both thought it was going to be about the history of Australia but instead it was more of an overview of Australia as a whole, including animals, people and geography. It was interesting to see and to learn about the different areas. They even had some real animals including crocs, frogs, bugs and a snake! We mooched around it, picking the bits that interested us. One thing that caught my eye was a mummy from Egypt in its original coffin that had been excavated. The reason for this was because at the time of death they were unable to identify the person and due to recent advances in technology they were able to use DNA and other ways to identify that it was a woman. They had suspected for a while that it was a man, but current technology proved them wrong! Interesting!
We continued to mooch around before leaving and heading for Pizza hut as it was mid afternoon! They had a good offer on their buffet so we took full advantage and filled up! We could hardly move by the time we had finished so we wondered down to Darling Harbour and collapsed on a bench to recover! We sat people watching for a while in the park area.
From there we headed back into town and found ourselves in a bookshop! We have a habit of mooching in them and the time seems to pass so quickly!
The day seemed to fly by and before we knew it we were making our way back to the hostel for the evening!
