Change over day – From camper to hostel! We got up and packed up our stuff and the camper and set off towards Sydney. We didn't have to take the camper back until 4pm so we weren't in a hurry! We thought about going to Manly beach which is north of Sydney and then driving across the harbour bridge into Sydney to the hostel. However, after consulting the tourist information we decided against this idea because of traffic, road closures and xmas shoppers! Instead we took it easy and headed into Sydney, stopping in the suburbs to make our last lunch in the camper! We stopped by a lovely park with lots of big posh houses overlooking it!
We also stopped at the Olympic park! We drove around taking pictures and admiring! Its a shame because its a huge campus of all these amazing buildings built for all the sports, and it doesn't seem to be used much! It may just have been because it was the middle of the day but we couldn't help but think that it could be used more! We saw the ANZ stadium where the rugby world cup was held. It was nice to drive around and we both defo want to go and see some of the Olympics when they are in London!
From there we continued into Sydney! It was quite exciting driving in as you knew you were getting close and we were both waiting for our first sight of the city! I managed to direct us in and we found the hostel with ease, despite the one way streets and 'no right turns'! We ended up driving right through the city centre, past all the crazy xmas shoppers leaving the shopping until last minute!
We managed to check in to the hostel and met our room mates! They are from Northampton and are taking a very similar route to us and are also leaving Sydney on the same day as us! Once we had emptied Talula of all our belongings we made our way to the depot where she was due back! It was in south Sydney and about a half an hour drive! We checked her in with no probs and then, for the first time in 4 weeks we had to use public transport! It was a long bus ride back in to town but we got to see more of Sydney, including a car crash! From the bus stop we had a nice walk back to the hostel. The hostel seems lovely, its very cosy and homely and everyone we have met so far seems really friendly. There are lots of xmas decorations, including a tree so hopefully we'll start to feel more christmassy!
As we have been good since we had the camper and cooked all our meals, we were looking forward to eating out here! Once we had chilled for a bit we headed out in search of mcd's! It was worth the wait! We are in an area called Kings Cross, which doesn't have great reviews but it seems to be ok! Its only a short walk to the centre of Sydney and there are plenty of shops, food places and bars to keep us entertained here!
We spent the evening in the tv room with access to the internet! Woo hoo!!
