Today has been a day of contrasts. This morning we went to a 7 day celebration. This is an event held seven days after someone has died. It really is a celebration and it goes on all day. Like all Cambodian celebrations it was noisy and very inclusive with people coming and going all day.
I then had a very frustrating Skype meeting with the other EMAs. I hate technology as it makes everything even more difficult to follow.
I then went for a lovely quiet bike ride - yes a bike ride - on Gertrude my lovely red bike!! I went along a canal and back via the lake Vicki and I found a couple of weekends ago. Please look at the photos if you need evidence.
That quiet interlude was needed as I am now sitting in my house with 2, yes two family celebrations up the street. One is a wedding and even Bunthorn is not sure what the other one is but both have the loud speakers up.
The wedding is a large one. I have been watching the marquees - yes marquees - going up all week. Yesterday there was a small celebration which was only for the family. Today is obviously the main event. The road is blocked with cars, motos and people. The bridesmaids are wearing the same colour as the hangings in the marquee and everything looks lovely. The band hasn't started yet so it is only noisy - I have no idea how loud it will be later.
The other celebration is - I still don't know, it is just as noisy but sadly with a different tone of music.
Ah well, who needs to sleep!!
