This weekend I set aside to explore the area. I have decided Marc and I now know each other well enough to go out for longer rides.
Yesterday I decided to brave Highway 4. I have mentioned this road several times and it has improved in my mind the longer I have been here. However it is busy, dusty and nerve wracking so it was with some trepidation that I set off. My aim was to reach a lake that I had seen on Google map. Driving through town wasn't too bad as nothing can go that fast. Out the other side I went on to the dirt track that runs alongside the Tarmac. Anything that is on this part of the road is either going the wrong way, stopping or going slow so it suited me. (Mind you it was very dusty)
I found the lake, it is lovely. Sadly when I saw it there were wires between me and the lake so I decided to go further along the road to get an even better view and of course the road went away from the lake. Never mind I know it is there and will go back.
Today I decided to head for the hills. They do not look far away and I am actually sure I can reach them but not today because just outside town I saw another lake. This one I could drive alongside on a dirt track that was in the shade. I drove for about 15 mins and saw no-one other than water lily pickers and monks. I then turned around and drove back seeing another couple of mottos but that was it. It was just great and yet again I wish I had my good camera.
As it is now getting hot both these trips were before breakfast.
