As we had the bikes till midday we road around the island in our very own motorcycle gang to use up fuel. For some reason we get very annoyed about leaving 50 baht worth of fuel in the bike on return. It's only £1 but for some reason we would rather risk running out of fuel and being stranded as we try to use every last drop.
Guess what else happened..... The flip flop thieves have acted again. This time on Matt's 4 day old pair. The culprits left behind only one of the matching "Hippo Bloo" set. IDIOTS. In anger/humour (but mostly ANGER) Matt left the solo flip flop in the hope it's partner would be returned and the whole situation had been a stupid mistake. Matt notified all the staff and had them on look out in the hope he would have them back by the time we returned to Chill Out House in a few days.
We got the afternoon boat to Koh Phi Phi after surviving the ride to the Harbour. Seven people plus baggage in the back of a pickup truck with no seats and nothing to hold on to. We had to sit on the edge too as the main part only just fit the luggage. We love Asian transport. How strange it will be to sit in the back of a car when we are back in England.
Once we had located a decent hostel for the 7 of us it was time for a sunset beach beer. Afterwards we managed to find the best pad Thai in Thailand at an unsuspecting shack of a restaurant. We then returned to drinking beers on the beach. This is all people come to Koh Phi Phi for so we all just followed suite.
We had an amazing event happen as we sat chatting. Craig and Melissa (the two scientists) that we met two months ago in Halong Bay (Vietnam) just strolled past us. We really get on well with these two and it was great to catch up and almost immediately decided that we should travel for the next week together.
The fire shows on the island are second to none and the fire jump rope and limbo just added to the atmosphere. Of course Matt did the limbo. As the drinks were pricey at the bars we turned on traveler mode on sat on the beach at one of the bars and supplied ourselves with beers from the minimart. Saying that it wasn't long before the rum buckets were ordered to the table. We became so attached to a really young amazing fire dancer and spent the night tipping him. He was so happy and he really deserved it, Char couldn't stop watching him. So good but so sad at only 11 years old. In Stones Bar the fire jump rope was out and against the girls wishes, the lads took part. Nailed it to be fair. Apart from our friend James who got touched by the flaming rope resulting in a huge blister under his foot being ripped clean off as he landed for the last time. To our surprise everything closed at 2am, however, we found a bar in the town but shortly returned to beers on the beach until 4.30am. FULL OF BEER.
