Day two of songkran was just as crazy!
When we went out for food in the morning it was much busier and we came back a lot wetter! We decided to spend a few hours at the pool before heading down in the early afternoon. The daytime is so much better than later in the evening! There are a lot less drunk westerners which makes it much nicer. We had an awesome time meeting loads of Thai people and getting involved in loads of water fights!
We headed back up later in the evening and decided to have a 7/11 feast in our room rather than try to get to another restaurant. We managed to make it back with our food fairly dry in the scheme of things! We picked up a couple of drinks from 7/11 as well so we took these up to the pool so we could watch songkran from above. The street was so packed!
At around 10pm we noticed something going on further down the road. About 30 military police and a police car were heading up the road and trying to disperse all the people. They eventually made it to the other end and the crowds and music started again, but it was definitely quieter than before.
This morning, Shane wasn't feeling 100% so I went out to get some water and it was like songkran never happened! The roads were lined with taxis and people were setting stalls up on the side of the road! It was such a strange contrast to the last few days! It's a little bit disappointing that we don't have one more day like we expected but it will be nice to be able to go out and enjoy a walk around Khao San Road!
