So here's my blog from yesterday!
It started out pretty chilled. It was the first day we didn't really have anything to get up for so we had a bit of a lie in.
We had some breakfast and then went up and spent some time up at the pool. Unfortunately they were cleaning the pool so we couldn't swim but I started to work on my tan instead.
After meeting with the women sorting our legal stuff we knew there was a chance that our legal wedding arrangements could be happening today but figured it would probably be Monday instead. However about quarter to one she called me and said it was all sorted for three that afternoon!
We had a made rush to get ready as the traffic is pretty bad so we knew it could take a whole to get from Koh San road to her office and then onto the registry office!
We made it to the office about two but because of road closures it was difficult to get to the registry office so we got a taxi so far and then had to walk through one of the protests to get to the train. The protests were amazing and I can see why they would encourage tourists avoid them as they just seem like street Imarkets with music!
We got the train and a tuk tuk the rest of the way and arrived literally just in time! Her friend had got there earlier to get our ticket to be seen so we came in and sat down straight away! The women who helped sort all the legal stuff out came over when we were sat down to bring me a bouquet, it was so sweet of her and made it feel a bit more like a wedding type event as it was so strange when your used to U.K. legal ceremony's! It was a massive office with loads of people waiting or being seen as well. We had to just sit there while they checked, stamped and signed all the paperwork. Once this was done we answered a few questions, the guy we were seeing signed the certificates and we were married! You definitely need to have a separate ceremony here as there was nothing romantic or sentimental about it! Although I did get a bit emotional at one point!
I will say it is worth getting married in Thailand just for the marriage certificate! It is beautiful! It comes in a lovely book which has a poem in and the two certificates, as we have one each, have a really pretty border pattern which the meaning of is also explained in the book!
We have to meet again so collect a translated version of the certificate to use at home. We couldn't have asked for better service! Everything went really smoothly and she made every effort with us. The company we used was called orchid of Siam and I would highly recommend them for anyone wanting to get married in Thailand.
We got a taxi back home and decided to make the most of Koh San road that. night! We were out till about 3am before finally coming home to sleep! A perfect way to celebrate our first night of marriage!
Today we had another lie in, breakfast and then haven't left the pool since! It's so nice to finally have a day with nothing to do!
