Today was the first official day of songkran.
We went out in the morning to get some food and although there were a few people out and we didn't make it back completely dry, it was pretty quiet.
We decided to spend the morning at the pool, where we had a pretty good view over Khao San, so could watch and hear it as it got busier! By 1pm there was a rave going on in the middle of the road!
We stayed at the pool until the afternoon before heading back to the room to change. We ended up going out about half 4 and spent over an hour trying to get to the other side of Khao San as the crowds of people were that cramped! We had some food and then went out to get involved properly. We walked out and around Khao San, where we got covered in the clay they use on their faces during songkran, but is banned on Khao San. After a while of squeezing through the crowds and getting more and more soaked we managed to get back and headed to the DJ booth they have set up in the middle of the road.
By 8 we were soaked and pretty knackered, it really does take it out of you! We came back and sat up at the rooftop bar and chilled out for a while, ready to do it all again tomorrow!
