We left Blenheim early and drove on to Picton. The guide books don't rate Picton except as a place to board the Transisland Ferry. However it was another beautiful day and the sun shining on the harbour at Picton was another stunning sight. We had breakfast there after a walk around the marina. We then took the Queen Charlotte Highway to Havelock. This gave us views over the Malborough Sound. We had to stop loads of times to appreciate the huge number of inlets. The sea was a beautiful blue and it took your breath away!
Our next stop was Nelson, we picked up a Belgian hitch hiker on the way. ,
Nelson was another interesting town. We walked along the river up to the centre of New Zealand. Yet another place where we have a photo of mum and dad in 1950. The structure over the trig point had changed from then but you could see it was exactly the same place.
We then drove on to Moteuka, where we were to visit Abel Tasmin National Park
