So we are now in Wellington! Attached is the promised photo of Okahea Airbase - the old entrance as in 1949!
The drive to Wellington was rather wet, the first real rain we have had.
We didn't really stop anywhere, although we looked at the windmill in Foxton.
It was a bit of a shock arriving in the city, one way streets, lots of traffic and loads of people. Took us a while to get to hotel and ended up trying to get all the luggage out at great speed as we were parked where we shouldn't be. We have a suite here which is huge. Two bedrooms, lounge, dining room and kitchenette. Certainly larger than our lodges. As soon as we unloaded we drove around the one way streets again to take back the car. Why is is the street you want is the one way one! So after 18 days with our Toyota Rav 4, we are exploring Wellington on foot. Thank goodness. Spent the afternoon in the city museum which was excellent and took some time to get round. E-mail is a bit hit and miss here. We have so many minutes so not sure if that is everyday or whole stay. Anyway, we fly to Christchurch tomorrow night (Saturday) and then pick up Campervan on Sunday morning for 22 days. How exciting is that!!!
Have you still got snow??
