On Saturday 1st February we caught a bus from the campsite at 8.30am. This drove us to Kaiteriteri, a beautiful bay of golden sand. There we caught a water taxi, from the beach and this took us around the bays of Abel Tamsan Natuonal Park up to Totaranui. It stopped at several bays as people got on and off. The views were stunning yet again. The sea was turquoise and the sand golden. Heather saw a penguin, the rest of us saw the seals but somehow missed the penguin! We then came back again and disembarked at Torrence Bay, transferring to a smaller boat first so we didn't have to get wet feet. From this bay we walked to Medlands Beach, this was a couple of hours through the woods and looking down onto the bays. We had to transverse a small swing bridge over a river, which John did not enjoy!
We sat on the beach awaiting our water taxi, unfortunately we did not swim as we didn't want to share the water with the jelly fish and the stingray.
The water taxi was able to come right on the beach to pick us up. We had a bit of a fright on the way back to Kaiteriteri when the taxi pulled into a deserted bay and the captain called for the 4 people in the Langdon party to get off!, a computer error! We were allowed to remain on board.
Kaiteriteri beach at the end of the day was heaving. probably the most people we have seen apart from the cities.
We returned to the campsite for a spa and a pizza!!
