We spent the day in Rotorua. Firstly we went to the museum in the Bath House. We had a guide who went on a bit but parts of the museum were really interesting. We then went to Te Puia, a Maori cultural centre with a geyser. We saw a Maori cultural performance, and had a really good guide, telling us about the Maori way of life, and saw sculptures and weaving. We then waited for the Pohutu geyser to blow. It didn't disappoint!!
We rang Will in the evening which would have been as he was wakening up to wish him a happy birthday.
Today we drove south and stopped at the Wai-o-Tapu Thermal park. We saw the Lady Knox Geyser erupt at 10.15am and then walked through the park, seeing amazing colours in the bubbling pools. The area is .literally covered with collapsed craters, cold and boiling pools of mud and water.
We have now reached Lake Taupa, we have another lodge and are staying here to rest for 4 nights. Weather has been cooler and we have had some rain.
Tonight we played banagrams, the men were not very enthusiastic. Again Ray and I are putting pictures on Facebook.
Love to all our followers!!!
