Was up at 6 for my muesli, homemade toast and tea leaf tea and had fed, hayed, brushed and exercised 3 before our mid morning tea and oreo break at 10.30am! Then I brushed 6 tails before raking up the leaves to burn before it gets to the fire banning period to prevent bush fires!
All the horses here are thoroughbred ex race horses that owen has retrained himself! He has a few dealer mates who he tries before he buys at $500, £300 approx! This morning he put me on challor, a 22 year old mare who knows the score, jus to see if I could ride, he kept turning to look at me as we were cantering as he's got many funny stories on people who 'claim' they are excellent in the saddle! We ride down a derelict railway line which is exciting! Next we rode 4 year olds who he's just starting to train to play! Owen is just like the horse whisperer, I mean these 'ex race horses' canter along on a loose reign n dance backwards for you upon request! It is coming out of winter so he is trying to fatten them all up and get them fitter! The present polo season is novice so all the professional horses are not in work as of yet!
For dinner we had burgers, sausage rolls, bread and lemonade, all homemade! Lunch started at 12.20 and I'm back out at 2.30 to finish my raking! Getting a slight blister and my nails are no longer beautifully polished but it's all good fun!
Owen is really nice and we have been laughing and joking all morning! There is also a guy called Robert with bi polar who lives in a converted stable and doesn't really talk much, I'm sure Karl pilkington would have loads a fun with him though!
Theres only about 400 people who live in wooroloo so unless they've had a spate of bird flu, the internet must have been exaggerating! As there's not much else but a primary school and a minimum and maximum security prison in the area, I'm going to write to the governors to try and do some research/inspirational workshops there!!! Well back to work!!!
I started back to work at 2.30 and owen handed me a bottle of diesel and a lighter and told mento burn all the piles once id raked up leaves and branches on about a 40 by 40 area!!! My first thought was, 'wow this is a lot of raking', my second was 'omg my mum Neva let me play with fires' and my third, 'where's Robert bigott when ya need him'? This was a dream job for a repeat arsonist as once owen showed me how to do it, I must've set about 20 little fires and was also responsible for maintaining them!
At 430 we went back upto the house for more tea and biscuits where owen revealed that not only does he do all his own shoeing, but he also does the majority of the veterinary work including cutting off raw flesh when necessary, this guy has his fingers in many pies!!!
I met Julie who is also very nice and at 5 we went back out for the final time to feed and hay!!!
Over tea, owen informed me that he's umpired prince Charles and let him off with a few cheeky fouls!!! Sat outside having a cigarette and lovely wine, I overheard Robert ask him 'so, can she ride'? And owen replied 'yeah she's alright ya know' so I think I'll be ok for the foreseeable future :0)
Jus had a shower and my body says 'NOOOOOOO'!!! Think I'll sleep well tonite :0)
