Well I was up at 4.30 ready for imagele and Marion to pick me up for the drive to rockingham! The ferry leaves at 8 to give us plenty of time to search for the dolphinos!!! All in all there are about 200 wild dolphins who live off the coast of rockingham.
Well firstly all I can say is me putting on my wetsuit is like trying to fit 2lb of sugar in a pound bag!!! We saw our first party of dolphins after just 10 minutes of leaving the shore which is virtually unheard of! They weren't feeling too sociable so we drove for another 10 mins before we found our second party, that were chasing a sting ray and steeling it's food! Another party we found were a male alliance who sleep, fight and even have sex with each other! Yes, dolphins have gay sex! They hunt for females and have a gang bang! If the female doesn't fancy it, she goes to the surface and lies on her back! The echo location sends a sonar wave that bounces off all the objects in the water and they receive it through their lower jaw and up through their ears! They also use ultrasound and can see through people and other fish and mammals!
Dolphins live upto about 50 years in the wild but living in captivity halves their lifespan due to depression! One of the parties had a small calf which played in the waves for ages! As we were driving, the dolphins jumped about and played in the swell which was fantastic! Poor imagele spent the whole trip hugging the bin on the top deck next to the driver who she grew up with and use to fancy ha ha
William, our instructor kept reminding us to 'look down, as dolphins can't fly'! A party of dolphins swam underneath us 3 times about a meter away rolling over and having fun! As i was getting out of the water william zapped me with his shark shocker, think its the first time ive ever pulled a guy with no makeup on. Thank god for the sharkshockers as the western australia newspaper reported two, five meter great white sightings yesterday. For the 5 hours we were out on the boat, we basically had dolphins in sight the whole time! It was an amazing experience that I will never forget!
Off to kwinana horse beach now to meet mark from polo who's bringing his eventer down for us to have a swim on! Got the horses off the trailer and it turns out the eventer was 3 years old and had only been broken in 3 months. So I got mark to get on first and 16.3 oli dipped his toe in and then was as good as gold bless him! Had a great time!!!
I didn't think this day could get any better but imagele invited me round for tea and a bottle of wine!!! Not only do they have a lemon tree in the garden, but two apple, orange, peach, nectarine, apricot, mulberry trees aswell as aloe Vera plants for all those cuts, bites and most importantly for imagele, sun burn!!!
