Friday 14th August - Whitby
The drive from Scarborough to Whitby was not very nice as the fog was very thick and at times we could not see the car in front just the pin p**** of the red lights. I haven't driven in fog this bad for a long time. We got to Whitby and "Mary" sounded the trumpet right outside the door to The Pier Inn, own home for the next two nights. Jan got out to go inside and see where we were to park and if we could check in and it started bucketing down. Matt came out and helped us with our bags and up to the room. The room is beautiful and overlooks the harbour - WOW.
I was given a parking permit and told where to park until we leave here on Sunday. Just go around the corner and up the hill and look for a sign with W on it and park where you can. Well I was the only car parked in this area! Left the permit on the top of the dashboard and walked back to the hotel. Jannie had unpacked and all ship shape so off down to the bar for a sandwich and a beer.
After we had eaten we decided to walk along the quay but after about 200m we decided to go back to our room and read as the weather had really gotten a lot worse and we didn't fancy getting any more wet than we were already.
