This morning we travelled north through the towns of Tuam and Dunmore before turning east towards Ballinlough.We stopped at stately Clonalis House, ancestral home of the O'Conors, descendants of the last High Kings of Ireland. This morning we paid £8 each for an all day bus ticket and caught a shuttle bus into town. We firstly went to George Square which seems to be Games Central for The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games which start this week. This morning, we took a trip on the Jacobite Train from Fort William to Mallaig, a small fishing village on the western coast. The Jacobite is a famous steam train, made more so because of its alternate persona, the Hogwart's Express. This morning, we started off heading for Inverness but stumbled across the Culloden Moor Battlefield on the way. This was the site of a famous battle in 1746 between the Jacobites and the Hanoverians. There was a big visitor centre with interactive displays etc but we chose not to pay for entry.
