We had a harrowing morning as we attempted to wash our laundry. Laundry mats are far and few between and hotels require 24 hours to send it out. We found a pension just a few blocks from our hotel that had a coin operated washer and dryer (2 of each actually).
After we checked into our hotel yesterday we carted a large suitcase full of dirty clothes up the hill and multiple sets of stairs only to discover it was closing and would reopen at 9:00 am. We were waiting at the door by 8:50 and when no one showed up by 9:15 we decided to get a quick breakfast. By 9:30, when we returned, someone else had beat us to it... We did manage to get ours washed, check out of the hotel and make it to the noon mass at Santiago de Compostela. Whew!
The drive to Cape Finisterre only took about an hour and a half. Our hotel is in Fisterra, a nice little beach town, and clearly we are here off-season (my favorite time).
The entire lower portion of the cape appears to be parkland. It's about 2 miles to the point so we will get up in the morning and walk there and back. Jim said he was thru with walking but I guess 4 short miles don't count!
Tomorrow afternoon we'll drive back to Santiago and take a late afternoon flight back to Madrid. On Friday we will fly home.
