Lost in Chiang Mai...
We spent six nights in this city after being told it was beautiful and a must see place if travelling Thailand. I disagree but can totally understand why people would go! If you want to go sleep in the jungles, hill trek, do bamboo rafting and zip line then it's definitely worth a trip but none of the above appealed to me really and infact we were told we needed a group of four or more to book the tour! We did book the visit to the famous Doi Suthep temple and local tribal Meo Village which both were good to see! Amazing views of Chiang Mai high up in the mountains where there was lots of beautiful flowers and illegal drugs...
I did really enjoy my four nights stay at the Boutique Vivacity Home chilling by the pool and in the bungalow was lovely but was out the way of everything on the outskirts of Chiang Mai - made us feel a little secluded and was scary getting tuk tuks in the dark! Smiley, the owner kindly rescued us one time after not following directions correctly oops! We also had a meal at On The Deck not expecting it to be as nice when we walked in but they showed us to a table outside which was beautiful by the river and lanterns everywhere. I was already craving good english grub so got traditional fish & chips mmmm!
Our two nights in a more central guesthouse which we booked as thought we were missing out on the nightlife were not so good. Every bar/pub we went into felt like a brothel and not very nice to see... Lots of strange, weird happenings going on in this city for everyone to witness! All we wanted to do was get back to Bangkok and head south to the islands. So we decided to have one last party night in Khao San Road it felt good to be back in backpacker central surrounded by people like ourselves and then we were back on the overnight bus to Koh Samui!! Both feel soo happy to be finally on a beautiful beach as the weather in North Thailand wasn't great! Already love this island after two days and our hotel is okay... Just booked the boat to Koh Phangan for the famous FULL MOON party tomorrow!! Can't wait :D
