Here goes... My first week...
Dubai was our first port of call but only for a twenty three hour stint due to our horrendous connection but it was nice and we had an airport hotel to get a good nights sleep! Check out was 12pm and we had approx eleven hours to kill, we spent this mostly inside the airport which is huge and I treated myself to MAC and Benefit makeup! We also got food vouchers from Emirates because of our long wait (everybody loves a freebie!) Then it was back onto Emirates hoping this flight would be nicer than the last, it was and we even got emergency exit seats with more legroom as the man on the desk liked our accents! But then of course a large man sat next to me meaning I couldn't fall asleep and couldn't really move! As for complimentary drinks they never happen the air hotness in our cabin had a worse attitude problem than me. Personally I would not rave about Emirates even though their advert makes them look soo great! Lucy who I'm here with flew to Thailand on another trip with Ethiad and said they were much better. But nevermind at least I watched my favourite Disney film, The Lion King and then Gossip Girl/Friends episodes which is something I wouldn't be able to do on Jet2!

Anyways at last we arrived into Bangkok after a VERY scary taxi ride from the airport, apparently they don't use indicators, don't slow down when coming to standstills/traffic lights and better still don't have seat belts! All we could do was laugh and be happy we got here in one piece. After hearing we would hate Bangkok we were surprised to find that we loved it! Great nightlife especially in Roof Bar and The Club! Bars scattered all down Khao San Road with market and food stalls - something I would advise NEVER to eat!! I suppose people think it's the best food ever after a few Changs though! This is a cheap beer which everyone drinks, it's not imported so you can have a bottle that's ok and the next might blow your head off...

After three nights staying in the lovely Khao San Palace and managing to annoy a Ladyboy we booked an overnight bus to Chiang Mai. Back home you can't get me on a bus for twenty minutes never mind the long twelve hours for this journey! But if I'm honest it wasn't 'that' bad and people seem to think it's better than the overnight train where they go through your luggage whilst sleeping. They dropped us into Chiang Mai city which was full of backpackers trying to find a cheap place to stay, we panicked after trying to find accommodation for two hours and being told everywhere would be booked we agreed to stay where another couple were booking. At just 250THB we were happy to just have somewhere to drop our heavy bags off and have a shower not expecting it to be the Hilton but still clean... This was so not the case the room was absolutely disgusting the worst I have ever seen!!! I was intrigued as to where the hell they managed to find such awful bed sheets (covered in all sorts may I add!!!) NOWAY were we staying here, we had met a Swedish backpacker on the bus also and he loved it :/ seemed happy to have hot water, a fan and was well jel of our lamp... If only I could share his enthusiasm but myself and Lucy joke to each other that we are 5* travellers! Straight away we were on booking.com and found a beautiful boutique home in more of a secluded, countryside area. We wanted to be far away from this hell hole of a place (DN Guesthouse) and we thought it might be nice to chill after a few manic days in Bangkok which is a very busy city! Lesson learned - stick to trip advisor and book beforehand! The hotel is perfect and the staff are so friendly one in particular; Smiley who is always asking if we are happy and helps us out a lot! I experienced my first Thai meal last night and it was nice looking forward to trying new things as I am known to be the pickiest person ever! Tonight we are going back into the city to book some tours, quite fancy seeing the Doi Suthep and going elephant trekking...

So far SO good! I am writing this laying by the pool in 32 degrees heat wooooo!!
