We arrived on Koh Phangan on the night of the famous FULL MOON party! Here we spent three nights at the Sandy Bay Resort... Our time was mostly spent sunbathing/relaxing on our private beach in Haad Yao. The resort was beautiful even though our room was a bit of a let down it was bearable and staying in what looked like paradise only set us back around £7 each a night! We had a lovely pool and restaurant area which was directly on the golden sands and crystal waters...
The first thing we looked at when planning our travels at home was the date of the Full Moon party, my Mam thought that was my ONLY reason for coming to Thailand haha it wasn't but not a chance were we missing out on one!! We were both so excited! We arranged a taxi from our hotel and got dropped off around half past nine - headed straight for the stalls that done body paint and ended up with my leg and Lucy her arm covered in a bright flowery pattern! Very snazzy!! I also had some unwanted dots on my face, stupidly I let one man start drawing what I pointed to (flowers) and he did about six random coloured dots around my eye and wanted paying - no mate I didn't ask for this and I walked away! Lucy couldn't stop laughing so I assumed they looked horrendous but they were okay I suppose and he didn't ruin my two hours work of applying makeup!! Anyways... Next was the bucket stalls, vodka and red bull which I have since found out has speed in it?! Not sure how true this is but omg my heart has not raced as much and I have not touched this since! The beach was packed full of eager party goers with buckets :) loved all the different sections of music, bars, groups of people! We spent time watching the flame throwers and them letting the crowd have a go - clearly work in a nightclub back home as some of them were better than the so called 'professionals.' At around 7am we strolled (maybe rolled) back into our resort after getting bullied by Chinese people in our taxi home and the sun was rising it was a red/pink colour was the perfect way to end our amazing night!
After nursing our hangovers all day and me making everyone back home jealous of my surroundings by skyping them on the beach we decided to have a meal and watch the sunset... Both picked curries and my god we could not eat them they were so hot!! One waiter in particular took a shine to us and wanted to take us to party but we politely declined! Next day we stayed around the pool and arranged for the boys who we met in Bangkok to come to our hotel on the night. Haad Yao and Haad Salad are very quiet resorts so had to make your own entertainment! By entertainment I mean go to Seven Eleven buy alcohol and sit up on the beach talking and playing games! This was a fun night we both enjoyed it :) so now it was time to check out and head back to Koh Samui where we planned to stay for the next couple of weeks... We thought we wouldn't have a problem finding a hotel but we couldn't have been more wrong!! Absolutely loved my stay in Koh Phangan even though we booked to stay in the wrong Haad Yao ooops! We would LOVE to go to another Full Moon party!!
