Happiness Is The Road
We had intended to go to Hamelin Bay today but we had a change of plan. We broke our internet router last night and we needed a new one, however, the nearest Telstra shop was in Busselton about 90 kilometres away. We decided to go there today and then drive back to Hamelin Bay and work our way up the coast as planned. On our way to the amenities we noticed that the caged cat had left with it's owners moving on to somewhere else where the birds would no doubt look on and laugh. Poor puss! After brekky we left Augusta and hit the highway to Busselton. We passed through the gorgeous town of Margaret River on the way but didn't stop there today and then through Cowaramup where the road was lined with model cows. Soon after this we were on the edge of Busselton and came to the first junction with traffic lights we had seen since leaving Perth. We soon found the Telstra shop and got ourselves sorted and back on the internet. We then did some food shopping before driving to the sea front to have some lunch. We parked up very close to the amazing Busselton Jetty which I had strolled along back in October. After lunch Jay and I went to stroll it together. It is the longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere stretching almost two kilometres out into the bay. A sign at the entrance informed us that cats and dogs were not allowed. So no chance of bumping into the ' cat in the cage' then! We really enjoyed the walk out into the gorgeous Geographe Bay with the wind blowing through our hair and the seagulls squawking. I read the poem 'Pact' again that was on a board on the jetty. We had indeed walked the jetty's length to an extremity of winds and bird cries. After this we went to find somewhere to stay. We had originally intended staying at a caravan park which was near to the jetty but this place was absolutely rammed with the most annoying looking people we could have imagined. We decided to head out of town and chose to stay at the Peppermint Park caravan park on the edge of town. It was nice and quiet here and we relaxed for the rest of the day.
