Leaving Wanaka on the way to Queenstown. I have signed myself up to do a bungy at the original jump site called Kawarau. Its a bridge jump over a river! When we arrived we were taken into the museum and given a secrets of bungy tour that demonstrates how it all began and what it all involves. Next it was time to sign up and get it over and done with!
I think I was one of the first to jump from our bus, due to my proximity to the door! I was actually planning on running out but it turns out I was by the sign up door! After sign up it was off to the bridge where we got asked if we wanted to get dunked and if so how deep! I replied with, 'you choose'. Looking back it probably wasn't my wisest choice epcially when the blokes reply was...ok then your funeral!
So after getting kitted up it was off to the platform where they wrap your ankles in a towel and get you into a harness then its off the edge! It was pretty insane. You had to hop across to the edge because your legs were tied up! They didn't provide any help in the hope that I would fall off! But standing at the edge you have to wave to the crowd and to the camera and then its back to the jump! The most disconcerting thing was that we had to jump off with our arms directly infront of our face to pierce the water or we would be leaving with black eyes! I wasn't convinved I was going to remember!
When it finally came to the jump I threw myself off and got my arms into position! The rush was aweome, completely different from that of sky diving because you can see the ground and the water shooting towards your face! When i hit the water I went so deep (down to my knees) that it ripped my t shirt off! The bouncing bit was so fun and then it was all over! All that worry for nothing! It was amazing! The walk back up to the bridge would have been painful becuase of the sharp rocks but i was buzzing so much that I was pretty much bounding and jumping up!
Queenstown was amazing in general, I have so many memories from that city and all of them absolutley amazing! Met some really cool people, one particualy nice young girl, some incredible burgers, thats Fergburger! It was also the town that alot of our bus had to split up which was a shame!
I was due to go on the bottom bus with Ian and th rest of our new friends but due to my own laziness and uselessness I didn't make it up in time. Well thats a lie, I was awake, looking at the bus from the balcony of our dorm but I was also looking at all of my stuff that was lying on the floor not packed! So I decided to stay with Alex and Pete, who incidently were supposed to be leaving today as well! Oh well I stayed and had fun, chilled out by the lake and did alot of other stuff young people do! ;) Queenstown was a blast and thats an understatement!
