I started the day with a 1 mile swim at the local outdoor pool in Coorparoo. It had a lovely atmosphere, was warm and the sun was shining. Lisa had to work today so I caught the bus to Southbank. I went around the Maritime Museum, using an audio guide to navigate HMAS Diamantina; the last surviving river class frigate. Got up early and walked down to the beach to watch the sunrise. It was beautiful. Checked out of our hotel, after a relaxing dip in the outdoor jacuzzi. Jumped in the car and drove to Kuranda and saw a field of wild kangaroos on our route. We took the skyrail to Kuranda village, stopping at a couple of view points including Barron Falls. Drove to Mossman Gorge and caught the shuttle bus up to the rainforest. Walked a 3km route around the canopy, across a suspension bridge and then along the forest floor. The sights were amazing. An early alarm this morning with Cairns Parkrun starting at 7am! A rainy start but the sun soon came out. We stayed around Cairns for the morning, checking out the shops and local markets. We then started our drive to Port Douglas, stopping at a few sights along the way, including Crystal Cascade; a beautiful cascading waterfall. Hired a car and drove to Lake Barrine, stopping at Heales lookout to check out the view. This is the photo attached. We walked the 5km route around Lake Barrine, through a rainforest and then stopped for a well-earned Devonshire tea (with local tea leaves).
