Started with a delicious breakfast at Pawpaw and then went onto DFO to do a spot of outlet shopping. I bought a lovely pair of grey Converse trainers.
After a lazy morning, we stopped for some Japanese Ramen and then went to Kangaroo Point which is where Davin and Lisa got married 6 years earlier.
We met Judith, Wendy and Ian at Saccharomyces for a beer and cheese tasting event in the afternoon. We started with Boatrocker Epice; a Belgian blond ale spiced with star anise and orange peel. This was paired with Milawa King River Gold cheese. I really enjoyed both of these. Next, we moved onto Boatrocker Saison with a cave-aged cheddar. Also a light beer that went well with the cheese. Our third tasting was Boatrocker Dark Saison with a a French Chevre. The beer had a strong malty flavour, not so much to my liking. Out fourth beer was Pacific Stout, paired with Camembert. This one had a smooth whisky taste to it which I liked. Our final tasting was Adventus; a Belgian Strong Ale paired with Milawa Blue. At 10.4%, it certainly was strong but I also enjoyed it. It was aged in chardonnay barrels and with added yeast to give it a funky flavour. I quite liked the soft blue cheese with it too. I went on to have a cherry Kriek and a bottle of the Epice. I know; I drank beer!
