It's my last day in Brisbane but I'm making the most of it. We met a 'greeter' called Jan in Brisbane who took us to and told us about the historic sights. We started at City Hall where we were given a brief history of Australia and Queensland. We then walked to the Anzac memorial and Jan told us some interesting facts about it. We jumped on a city loop bus to St Stephen's Catholic Church and one of the volunteers told us about the church and the stained glass windows. From there, we went to the original little church where we saw a beautifully carved lemon myrtle wooden statue of St Mary MacKillop (Australia's first saint). We ended the tour with a walk through the Botanical Gardens, spotting the water dragons, followed by a look through the QUT (Queensland University of Technology) and its historic buildings.
We hired city bikes by the gardens (similar to the Boris bikes) and rode along the river to Bar Pacino for lunch. We then rode through New Farm Park to Tenerife, along the river walkway and under Story Bridge. From there, we caught the City Cat back to Southbank and then jumped on a bus back to Coorparoo.
Popped over to Kay's for a fleeting visit and saw Hannah too. Then came the time to get sorted and head to the airport. Currently sitting with Lisa and Davin; about to head through security and fly back home.
Bye bye Australia!
