Monto, Queensland Oct 12, 2015 Just south of Monto we find we are in Bunyip country, with a statue of just what we might meet along the local creeks. All clear and we continue onto Gin Gin for lunch before arriving in Bundaberg.
Moonford, Queensland Oct 11, 2015 An early light shower of rain makes us realise how dusty the car really is. We head off on a short (6km) walk to the Giants Chair Lookout and then a loop track to Fern Pool. The walk was fun and after lunch we headed to Cania Lake (it's actually a water storage dam) where we enjoyed a kayak in amongst the water skiiers.
Monto, Queensland Oct 10, 2015 Leaving the dust of Carnarvon Gorge behind we travel to Rolleston then onto Banana and Bilolea for fuel and supplies. We then travel south to Cania Gorge National Park where we set up for a couple of days and some more bushwalking.
Upper Warrego, Queensland Oct 9, 2015 Another early start for bushwalking - Dad and I head up Boolimba Bluff while Mum and Fraser completed a few walks along Mickeys Creek and also visited Balloon Cave. We met up at the visitor centre and then head to Rock Pool, the only location in the park designated for swimming. The water was very refreshing. Back at camp we enjoyed damper for dinner followed by, yes you guessed it, marshmallows.
Upper Warrego, Queensland Oct 8, 2015 Up early to beat the heat. We drive into the National Park and head off on what became a 15 km bushwalk up the Carnarvon Creek Gorge. Along the way we saw some fantastic aboriginal rock art, pretty waterfalls, massive cliffs and rock formations and best of all, a cool shady spot called the Moss Garden. Here the water is filtered through the sandstone and emerges in a constant trickle to support moss beds and fern banks. We filled our water bottle with water that ...
