We travelled to Mossman at the end of the Captain Cook Highway and found a town busy with trains shunting trucks of harvested sugar cane to and fro around the sugar mill. A few kilometres from town is Mossman Gorge which had a large visitor centre. Local aborigine "Skip" took us on a 90 minute dreamtime walk through the rainforest which included a welcome smoking ceremony and traditional ochre painting. We enjoyed his stories and knowledge of the rainforest plants, animals and environment.
