What bliss not to have to get up early and we had breakfast delivered to our appartment. It felt much more like being on holiday. Tomar is quite a tourist place and dominated by the castle and monestry which was the home of the Knights Templar. We went to see and tagged along with a British guide who gave us a fantastic two hour tour. He is a medieval historian and SHeffield Wednesday supporter who we joined for lunch and then he took us to see the town's synagoge- another important part of Portugal's history with the Jews. So we feel we are getting to know a bit about the country and people. Roger went out drawing this afternoon and then of course it rained again. We met up with other Camino travellers this evening and had as jolly an evening costing us Euro 7.50 for a meal and lots of wine...and Portugal doesn't have a big tradition of tipping. Just heard Victoria Wood has died and am so sad. She was my age and I remember meting her when she was singing songs on That's Life. She was such a talent. So I'll try and see if I can remember all the words to her song Let's Do It while on the walk tomorrow.
