The pic shows Roger , sideways for some reason, at the point where we are just 100 km from Rome. We will be there in a week but still have to sort out how we get home as our Monarch flights won't be happening. We walked alongside Lake Bolsena for most of the day but we were most excited by the fact that last night we slept in a room with a real Picasso on the wall. This morning we were given a tour of the palace we stayed in by the young son Francesco and it's been in his family for 500 years. The artwork was astounding and two popes had celebrated mass in the private chapel. There was a carrivagio painting and paintings taken from Napoleon's house and his footstool. There were pictures of Bryon and Stendhal who had stayed there while on their Grand Tour of Italy. Letters from Mussolini and Marconi and nearly every Pope you have heard of. Francesco is unmarried - just mentioning in case there are any young women out there interested and he's the only son. However I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself as I've caught a cold and have a nose dripping like a tap. But it's an easy walk tomorrow and we're in a very comfortable apartment and it's our first cooked Scottish breakfast tomorrow- no cake but bacon and eggs and tea. Hooray.

Alice Well done you two - alas the Via Francigena seems like distant memory already - unlike my mosquito bites which are still present. xx
Kally Sounds beautiful
