Two days of lovely walking in Tuscan countryside and villages where you expect Tony and Cherie Blair to appear round the corner in linen, praising this year's truffle harvest. Yesterday was so hot and we were v grateful of the drinking fountains. Today it drizzled and the views were limited. San Gimignano where we are tonight is a major tourist spot, but like York, deservedly so. Arthitecture stunning and still run by local people selling local produce. Not a supermarket to be seen. So ate truffle pasta and wild boar sausage and dramk wine made within 10 miles. And a pannecota and some biscotti. But we have a long walk tomorrow. Some scenic pics I hope tomorrow but meanwhile it's me with Mary and random saint taken in a grotto where 350 years ago some children had a miraculous vision of ... fill in the rest for yourselves if you believe in this stuff.
