Ian & Claire's Adventure
The next morning we awoke to bird noises and opened the van to see about 20 Gallar parrots (grey with a pretty pink head) and some noisy jackdaw type birds, and some huge grouse all next to the van. We had breakfast watching them. We then went to the Trezkin cave. A beautiful limestone cave with great formations and even some little friendly bats. However at the entrance there were several St. John's Cross spiders round the steps which apparently bite so your hand swells up and inside there were supposed to be tarantula sized Huntsman spiders too. We then walked (in midday heat) to see the Aboriginal cave paintings. We then drove for ages (with very little petrol) on really bad gravel roads to another really good load of cave paintings where we had lunch whole being hounded by flies. We then set off for the long drive back to Atherton. Along the way we saw a bunch of Wallabies on the golf course!. We stayed at a really nice campground, while we cooked dinner we watched(yes you guessed it) a wallaby grazing just down below us. Apparently if we get up early (6.30am) we get to see a load more. We'll see.
