What can I say, the weather here as been completely gorgeous, I wish it was like this all the time.. but let's face it.. I'm in Ireland. We have had a "heat wave" here for the past week or so, high 50's and reaching the 60's- Truly Spring! It has been sooo nice after the rain we have had this winter here. The sun shining every day, the sun on my skin has felt SO good. I've missed it and we've been taking it in all we can while it lasts, because we don't know how long it will! The weather has held up nicely and is looking to do so for the rest of St. Patrick's Weekend!!! Today was the first of the celebrating throughout the city of St. Patrick! It was the kick off to the weekend and the weekend long festivities. The weather was in the high 50's and gorgeous. The city was alive and FULL of people, which was nice to see. Cork is a small scale city, and LOVED seeing it filled with so many people to celebrate! We started our day walking into the city around lunch time and found a great spot beside the river in the sunshine to eat our lunch, which was free Curry- and it was DELICIOUS and so filling, I really liked it. We walked around the city for hours- listening to music playing and bands playing. St. Patrick's Street was the main strip and will continue to be for the rest of the weekend, and was FILLED with food vendors, music and lots of people! At the end of Patrick's street was a main stage where performers played- and we stopped for awhile to listen to a school group of kids play Irish music.. and they were GREAT!! Was not expecting them to be as good as they were! With the sun shining and the atmosphere, I could not help but get some GINO's which is the best gelato off of Patrick's Street. Honeycomb flavor, YUMMM!!!! We stayed in the city until the sun went down, taking in it ALL until it got a little chilly. The festivities will continue through the weekend and St. Patrick's Day on Monday! :)
Until Next time,
Cheers!
