Blog---- split
Well that was the fastest day that has gone by yet, being in Split Croatia. Wow is all I have to say- what an amazing and beautiful place full of gorgeous clear water and sunshine. The people there are so nice and friendly as well. Split has by at been my favorite place yet- and probably will remain that way! I can't get over or put into words how beautiful this place actually is- and no picture will ever do it justice. The city itself is quite like Greece and Grecian style- but cheaper and definitely more personable and friendly id say. When we arrived we had a couple hours to kill before we checked in. We found this great spot by the water to have some coffee and rest for a bit! Of course we girls love our iced coffee, but sometimes, especially for Alex it never comes to the table that way. The sun was so warm and felt so good, and the water was unbelievably blue and clear. We could have stayed there all day. When we checked into our hostel, it was even better. It was a small place only a few rooms of 6 which was perfect- less noise and safer atmosphere. The guy who owns it was AMAZING, Phillipe. There were always clean towels and everything being cleaned, and also free coffee and tea. It was probably one of the nicest places we will have stayed by the end of this trip. It was amazing and the beds/ rooms were so comfy and spacious with HUGE lockers !! I loved that. Our other three roommates were from England and were all friends on vacation as well. They were hilarious really nice- we were really happy with that! During the day we had found the farmers market type sort that is apparently there everyday. It had everything and anything and it was so cute. All fresh produce and groceries imaginable and clothes and trinkets as well! We of course sampled everything we could, and it was all so good especially the strawberries and fresh fruit! We of course found the beach and along the way there an back found some cute places along the water to stop for drinks! My favorite place was our first stop where we ha blue lagoons, and they were so yummy. The second place we had piña coladas and they were okay but very strong, yuck! We had to get more juice Hahha and it was served with yummy Nutella cookies!! Throughout the day we had countless number of gelatos and drinks, along with pleanty of picture taking!! By the evening we were starving for real food and found this adorable restraint by the water but far enough away to be secluded by gorgeous Grecian like stone! I had the sea bass with potatoes and some white wine, it was delicious and so worth it!! We definitely made out in Croatia with the currency exchange! For 1 euro is 7.60 Karuna! :) Split was definitely one of my favorite stops so far and I can't wait to come back here some day, I definitely will for sure. It is just to beautiful not to.
This morning before we left we stopped at the market one last time to spend our last of our money we had exchanged! We bought lots of fruit and goodies for the long journey to Venice and some souvenirs! I got a really cute tote bag with a starfish that says Croatia on it that I plan on turning into a pillow!!
And as for our train to Venice we have to stop in Zagreb Croatia then to Austria, then to Venice! Our train to Zagreb was changed to a bus due to the tracks being changed- thank god we figured that one out early!! So now we are on our way, April 11th, to start our journey to Venice! We shall be there tomorrow morning by 8am!!
... Missing my own bed!!
Until next time,
Cheers! :)
