The Blarney Castle, the Blarney Stone- We've been told about it for years throughout different classes and different people, but actually being able to see it in the flesh was one of the most breathe taking experiences I have yet to encounter on this trip. The walk to the castle was in itself a sight to see with all of the trees, flowers, grass and scenery. I was able to walk throughout the ground level of the castle and climb through all of the tight spaces and caves and such, or at least I tried. I'm glad I wore a lot of layers because it was pretty cold walking throughout the castle. Until we started our ascend towards the top of the Castle and the Blarney Stone. I broke out a sweat walking up all of the carved spiral stairs in the stone! But it was definitely worth it once we reached the top- the view was UNREAL- It was BREATHETAKING. Words nor pictures could ever give justice to what can be seen with the eye and how beautiful it truly is. Of course we had to kiss the Blarney Stone while we were up there!- I had no idea though how or what was to come in order to kiss that damn stone- I thought you just walk up to it and kiss a stone.. NOPE. You literally have to lay on your back- while the stone you want to kiss is about a foot and half away from you.. and the space between you can see all the way down to the ground! And you grab the two bars on either side of you and tilt your head back- all while there is someone there to assist you… I can honestly say for a split second I debated doing it- I'm not afraid of heights, but for some reason it made me SHAKE! BUT I DID IT- and was SO HAPPY when I did- and you can see in the picture how tightly I was holding onto the bars for my life! there was no way I would have ever left without doing it. The older man assisting us has been there for over like twenty years and was so funny we chatted with him for a little bit while up there on the castle. Now I have the gift of eloquence and the gift of gab :) It really was a perfect day, and the weather was sunny and in the fourties- We could not have asked for a better day really. The views were so beautiful that we decided we didn't want to leave yet. On the castle grounds they also had a poison garden that we walked through, that had a lot of different poison plants and berries- YOU WOULD NEVER FIND THAT IN THE STATES- that's all we kept saying because you could just walk right through the garden. I think we must have walked around the castle for a couple of hours just exploring everything there was to see! We were so lucky that the sun was shining and could finally see some of the Ireland GREEN scenery after being in the city so much! -Proud to say I can check of kissing the blarney stone from my bucket list!
Until Next time..
Cheers!
