This past weekend was one yet another great trip for the books. Holly and I went to Dublin for the weekend with some friends and it was a blast. Honestly Dublin in SO different from cork given that it is a much larger city. We stayed at our first hostel right in the heart of the city in the middle of Temple Bar which is one of the oldest areas in Dublin! - Walking on the cobble stone at night was a killer! We stayed at "Barnacles" and it was a really great hostel- it set the standards a little too high for the ones we may encounter on our Eurotrip, but that's okay. On our drive up to Dublin we stopped at a few places, we stoped a a beautiful castle, I believe to be called the "clare caste" and then we stopped in Cashel, and visited Cashel rock or also called "St. Patricks Rock" which was gorgeous and beautiful. It was a two hour add on to our trip up there but it was perfect. We finally got to dublin later that night and explored the city a little bit. We had time to grab dinner and walk around on our own, which was perfect- Holly and I had the best valentines day! We went to "Ricks" Burger place and had the best burgers and chips. It was soooooo goood- until we were STILL full when it was time to do the pub crawl later that night. Our two tour guides Peter and.. and I honestly can't remember how to say his name it was so Irish- set up this AMAZINGGG pub crawl with a local club/pub promotor. We Went to 3 pubs and ended the night at a night club. All of the clubs were great and the majority of them had live music which was aweomse because it's what I love the best! We got back pretty late, but were up the next morning to go to Wicklow National Park for the Day (Where PS I love you was filmed, well part of it!). It was beautiful and a great day trip outside of the city, because we were back in the city later that night to go out again. Today was our last day in Dublin, and we did a guided tour on our bus and made some stops through both the north and south side of the city. We stopped at trinity college, o'connels street, and at Pheonix Park which is the biggest park of land in Europe. We also got a chance to see the President's house across the way. It was a perfect weekend and it was so nice to just be away for another weekend and explore more of Ireland. Many people that visit Dublin who are from Cork, say that many people don't like it, just because it's so different than Cork. But I LOVED Dublin and we had a blast. I can't wait to go back, but It is also so great to be back in Cork. This place is starting to feel like home :)
