Today was literally one of the best days yet exploring Ireland- It was the first booked excursion out of the city- THE JAMESON EXPERIENCE, the old distillery. Holly Alex and I took the bus, which dropped us right off at the distillery- and for 10 euros round trip was perfect! There was so much to see even from when you just step foot in the door- from the whiskey, to the gift shop, all of the historical artifacts on the walls, and gorgeous wood finished tables made out of the Jameson barrels- LOVED THEM! We were smart and packed lunched with us to eat before the tour- Well I was the mom and packed Alex's as well, but needless to say it definitely saved us some money because the restaurant there…we could have ordered EVERYTHING if we went in to sit down for lunch after the tour. The tour itself was actually really great and I wasn't expecting it to be as informative as it was! It was about an hour and twenty minutes around the factory, and we had the chance to see pretty much everything and anything. The tour guide was great as well- a little BLAH but good- she got the job done, and we had fun taking pictures throughout. Even though I didn't wear a jacket due to the weather being so nice and not raining- IT WAS COLD!! At the end of tour was the best part- TASTE TESTING FOR THE LUCKY 8!!- Well Me and Al just happened to be in those eight people and had the best time ever- literally the look on Al's face drinking Whiskey was priceless. Keep in mind- we're both not big Whiskey drinkers.. but I enjoy and LIKE whiskey.. Al doesn't- So between the two of us and Holly just laughing at us in the background watching us was a sight to see. They started by giving us three different shots of Whiskey- Scotch, Jameson, and Jack Daniels. We tasted them as the tour guide was saying how each one was different from the other and all of the different notes in each Whiskey- blah blah blah- I CAN TASTE IT- DUH- But it was informative and I HATE SCOTCH- Good thing to know coming out of it I guess. And Sorry Jack- and Jim Beam, but Jameson was literally the smoothest Whiskey out there- SO GOOD. This little "taste test" then allowed us to receive our certificate with our names on it saying we were officially whiskey taste testers- Which literally means nothing expect that we took three shots of Whiskey- But what a great Souvinere! After the taste test we also had complimentary Jameson Whiskey however way we liked it. After the three shots straight up- us ladies decided to order a cocktail. They gave us simply, Jameson with ginger ale and lime- SOOOOOOOOOO GOOOD. I wouldn't have expected it to be that delicious, but I would definitely get it again- YUMM. When the tour women and the rest of the tour group left.. of course Me Alex and Holly stayed behind and we TOOK EVERYTHING- From the coaster, to the placemat, and of course you can't leave the Jameson factory without a Jameson glass.. so we took our Drink glasses with us as a nice souvenir:) I of course ALSO had to purchase some Irish whiskey truffles at the gift shop- I COULN'T help it, I really couldn't. I'm trying to wait to take them home with me.. but I doubt that I can resist that long to eat them.. I'll probably have one after I write this post! At least we stopped at the Irish version of the dollar store on the way to the bus and I could get some cheap Irish chocolate to satisfy me for at least a little while! It really was a perfect day outing for the three of us, and we had a blast- so in the end in was a really great trip- and we felt GREAT leaving..
Until Next Time…
Cheers!
