Anzac Day
Just me again
Got off to an early start, we were going to climb Mount William today. Well, that was the plan but after stopping at the Bay of Fires, the battery light on the dashboard of our car continued to shine and the next time i stopped the car was at Ansons Bay. Big mistake, as Paula told me not to switch the engine off, it was too late, i'd already done it. No way was that car going anywhere. Luckily for us a guy called Kevin was out with his son for the day and he turned out to be our knight in shining armour. Ansons Bay is in the middle of nowhere, with a population of 12 people there is no need for telephones, shops, caravan parks, nothing. Anyway, Kevin drove us up the hill where luckily his mobile hada signal and we were able to call for help. He then took us to his caravan where we were given tea and biscuits a pleny. Eventually, our canny mechanic Dale arrived. He was lovely, couldn't do enough for us. Took us back to St Helens, offered us tea, rang round for accommodation and even tried to set us up with dates for the night. I'm not too sure we felt overjoyed about the dates he had in line for us but hey he tried. His nephew, Damien drove down to the garage with his mate to take us back to their place to look at some bloody cray fish, yeh you heard me right, don't ask me why. If that wasn't embarrassing enough, all his mates came round to join us. God i felt so old,i reckon they were only 20 at the most. We eventually made excusses and tore ourselves away from the party and headed to, "The Bay Side Inn", the place to be seen on a Friday, apparently! Well what an eye opener it was, talk about redneck city. The whole place seemed to stop as we walked in, it was hilarious. Still, a good night was had by all. Back at our hostel, i got up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night and nearly jumped out of my skin when i heard something rustling in the corner of the room. Only turned out to be a cheeky little mouse eating out tim tams. Today didn't really go according to plan it was great, we met some really nice people.
Hope you are all happu
love Clairexxx
