After waking up wet (feeling like we were in the Lake District) we set off on a 800km journey to Coober Pedy which is famous for its opal mines and underground village. We arrived there at 5pm in the 51 degree heat- no wonder the houses are all underground! We were shown down a mine and round an underground house by a woman who had been an opal miner all her life.
