This week we have been getting out and about in Melbourne, we went down to The Elephant and Wheelbarrow Pub in St. Kilda to the "Neighbours Night". Yes you can imagine a pub filled with hundreds of 'merry' backpackers cheering and wolf whistling as they wait eagerly for the chance to meet THE Harold Bishop, Lynn Scully (and some guy called Conner????!!!!)The atmosphere was brilliant and everyone was excited, first there was a Neighbours quiz, dancing competition and sampling lots of free wine (courtesy of Anna's photo on the Pub Club flyer, and thanks to Robert of Elephant and Wheelbarrow in Perth.) Finally we got to meet the stars of the show, everyone went wild as Harold and the others walked in and we all waited impatiently but eventually got to give Harold a big kiss on the cheek, he is such a lovely man and even gave us his autograph! We got loads of pictures for our album. After that the night has become one big blur, possibly due to the large volume of alcohol intake. All we can remember is the snooze on the tram ride home getting off at the wrong stop and walking/ stumbling a very long way home.
On Thursday we discovered a great little irish pub called Pugg Mahones, which is very typically irish with lots of old fashioned memorabelia scattered around. Drinks we found were very cheap and after a few we started joking around, giving each other silly dares to do. Claires dare was to get the accordian (of the old fashioned memorabelia) from the top shelf and play it. Anyway, after a few more drinks Claire was up out of her seat planning her move, ten minutes later she was sitting with a very smug expression on her face playing the accordian along with the band who at the time were singing, "Bye Bye Miss American Pie" Those of us who watched this will never ever forget how funny this looked!
lots of love from Anna and Claire xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
